Hedda Anderssongymnasium is a recently established public high school in the municipality of Lund that accepted its first students in 2018. The school teaches the classic theoretical programs, and is distinguished by its great focus on pedagogy. In order to provide their students with the latest in pedagogy, they have chosen to invest in virtual reality in their teaching, where they have constructed a state-of-the-art VR classroom where an entire class can be taught at the same time. In the classroom, students are allowed to collaborate and learn complex scientific phenomena in a more embodied and pedagogical way in virtual learning environments.
Through our collaboration with Hedda Anderssongymnasium, we have gained valuable insight into the needs of the modern Swedish high school for virtual reality in its teaching, and which learning environments are interesting to use in teaching. We continue to involve Hedda Anderssongymnasium in our development with the intention of creating competitive products that provide Swedish schools with valuable learning.
Without Lund University, Edda Knowledge would not have existed, a fact that is still true today. Edda Knowledge was born from an extensive project that was carried out during two courses at the cognitive science department, a department with which we still maintain a close collaboration today. This collaboration has given us a strong grounding in the latest research on pedagogy and learning, which has proven to be a strong asset when designing our products.
At the cognitive science department, the Educational Technology Group has for many years researched pedagogy and learning in different age groups. Together with the group's leaders Agneta Gulz and Magnus Haake, as well as PhD student Eva Maria Ternblad and researcher Jens Nirme, we have compiled and taken into account several important research projects during the development of our first product "Work with Archimedes".
Malmö Museum has very generously let us demonstrate our products to their visitors at the Technical Museum in Malmö. Together with their curator Samuel Thelin and coordinator Pontus Wiahl, we have been able to create a VR experience that is inviting for all ages, and in this way help to arouse interest in the natural science subjects among the visitors. This has also been a very nice opportunity to show our products to the public.
Their clever VR solution on Archimedes' principle gave our visitors of all ages a playful and knowledgeable understanding of an otherwise complicated issue.— Samuel Thelin
Microsoft Sweden has also been a valuable collaboration partner, helping us gain access to a technical infrastructure that can support the technologically advanced learning environments we develop. In addition, they have helped and assisted us with the latest technology from several other players, including OpenAI, which we have been able to integrate into our products in a favorable way.
